Justice For All OOC

Setting

The story will take place primarily in the fictional Weston City, located on the east coast of the United States. There may be situations in which RP may take place in other cities, (which may also be fictional cities) but that will depend on where the story goes. Weston City is largely ruled by various gangs and crime bosses. Even (most of) the police and elected officials are corrupt, but the various groups vying for power keeps it from it being completely seized by one group or person. The plot takes place in present times.

Plot

A Weston City detective, fed up with the corruption of the police force, the elected officials, and the presence of criminals, decides to take things into his own hands. By day, he remains a detective, but at night, he adopts an alternate persona, dedicated to bringing justice to the criminals and the corrupt by any means necessary. Naturally, those he targets begin to notice and don't take too kindly to his acts against them. With his acts, he hopes not only to bring down these people, but also to inspire the people of Weston City to stand up for themselves, instead of allowing themselves to be pushed around.

Characters

For the most part, the character you create is fairly flexible. That being said, I do have a few important roles I'd like to have filled. The detective/vigilante obviously, (whose real name and alternate identity have yet to be decided) his partner, who also happens to be a good cop, and a reporter who teams up with the vigilante and eventually learns his true identity. Other important characters would be corrupt cops, city officials, and crime bosses. The nature of most of these characters would be up to you.

Although this is a "superhero" roleplay, I won't accept any characters with actual super powers, (in human terms, e.g. Superman types where their powers are natural won't be allowed either) nor will any of the characters be allowed to develop any. As such, all the abilities that characters exhibit will all be within natural human potential. That isn't say your character couldn't be talented at parkour or be able to lift more than your average human, or create more advanced pieces of technology, within reason.

Note: It's very likely that there are going to be more roles added to each of the following as the plot progresses, so stay tuned. I don't want to givetoo much away.

Essential Roles

This roleplay has a few essential roles, needed to start. Fortunately, as of now, out of the three, two have already been reserved.

Detective/Vigilante: Reserved by Messiah
Detective's Partner:
Reporter: Reserved by SkullsandSlippers

Major Roles

These are rather important characters. They aren't necessarily needed to start the roleplay, they will be essential to advancing the plot. These characters will primarily be player characters. Virtually everything about these characters are up to your discretion, and there will be more than one of each, so they can't really be reserved.

Crime Bosses/Major Villains:

Important Roles

These characters are more important to the plot. Though, not needed to start the roleplay, they will, in all likelihood, be needed to advance the plot at various points. Chances are, some of these will be designated as NPCs, unless someone really really wants to play one.

Other Roles

These can be anything from corrupt cops, to random goons, or civilians. These won't be essential to the plot often, unless they're directly inserted into it. They can be NPCs or PCs, depending on what's submitted.

Rules

1. Be respectful! This means respect yourself, the other posters, the GM, and the rules. If I feel like things are going to be a problem, I'll PM you, but let's hope it doesn't come to that.

2. No godmoding, metagaming, or powerplaying. They're all very similar, but they all have some important differences.

Godmoding - Making your character indestructible or untouchable, specifically in battle scenes.
Metagaming - Using OOC knowledge to benefit your character(s) ICly.
Powerplaying - Controlling another player's character, whether during battles or otherwise.

3. I'm not going to say there should be a minimum word length. Quality over quantity. But, responses should be literate and descriptive - enough so that there's plenty for the person(s) replying to you to respond. One-liners should be avoided.

4. Try to respond in a reasonable amount of time. I understand that different people take different times to respond, but if you disappear without saying anything to anybody and you're holding up the plot, well... that isn't so good. If you are going to be gone, please send me a PM, or say something here in the OOC thread.

5. You're allowed to play as many characters as you can manage, but the characters must be submitted to me for approval. Save for a few exceptions, no characters will be allowed to have any superpowers. If you decide to do multiple characters, please denote them in different colored text, unless they're in the same scene as one of your other characters.

6. This is an original roleplay, so your characters should all be creations of your own. I don't think this needs saying, but better safe than sorry, right?

7. I'm not a stickler for character bios. If you want to do one, that's fine with me. Here would be the place to put them down. Otherwise, you can give important information throughout the roleplay.

8. Have fun! If you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know through PM, or on this thread.

P.S. The title 'Justice For All' is a working title for the moment. Honestly, I'm horrible with titles, so if you think of a better one, feel free to say something.
